Ingredients

Scale

Crab Casserole Ingredients

  • 1 lb imitation crab meat, chopped or shredded
  • 3 green onions, chopped (white and green parts included)
  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Mix Creamy Base: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy without lumps.
  3. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle in the garlic powder, mustard powder, and salt, mixing well to evenly incorporate these flavorful spices into the creamy base.
  4. Combine Crab and Onions: Fold in the chopped or shredded imitation crab meat and chopped green onions along with the shredded Swiss cheese. Mix everything thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
  5. Transfer to Baking Dish: Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish and spread the crab mixture evenly inside the dish, smoothing the top.
  6. Add Topping: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the surface of the mixture for a delicious golden crust.
  7. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the cheddar topping is melted and golden brown.
  8. Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow it to set and cool slightly for easier serving.

Notes

  • Use imitation crab for an affordable and convenient alternative to real crab meat.
  • Green onions add a mild onion flavor and freshness—both white and green parts work well.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to blend easily without lumps.
  • This casserole can be prepared ahead of time, refrigerated, and then baked before serving.
  • Serve warm as an appetizer or a main dish alongside a fresh salad or steamed vegetables.
